About Paul Mitchell Sharpeners
Your Paul Mitchell Knife Sharpener is a precision tool designed to sharpen the secondary edge and is a must have tool for anybody using hoof knives.
Made by hand in Australia to the original design of the late Paul Mitchell (Pinehurst Forge), the sharpener has a tapered conical end which fits the smallest of loops to the largest.Â
The wider dual tapered elliptical end with its radius ground edges allows you to obtain the perfect cutting edge on any type of knife.
The clever design and materials are ideal to work on all types of steel commonly used in hoof knife manufacturing.
The Paul Mitchell Knife Sharpener is a handmade sharpener which removes a tiny amount of material from the blade you are sharpening with minimal effort.
How do we make your Paul Mitchell Knife Sharpener
Each and every Paul Mitchell Knife Sharpener goes through a multi-stage manufacturing process which includes forging, grinding, carbonising, electroplating, a heat-treated stress process and multiple quality control audits so your Paul Mitchell Sharpener arrives to you in perfect condition.
How to use your Paul Mitchell Knife Sharpener
As a general rule, the softer the material you are cutting, the straighter and thinner the cutting edge should be.
The pressure applied while using your Paul Mitchell Knife Sharpener should only ever be extremely light (almost just resting using the weight of the tool).
It is important to keep your diamond sharpener clean and unclogged. Always keep it well-oiled during use (WD-40 or similar) and wash and thoroughly dry after use.
Use your Paul Mitchell Knife Sharpener at an angle of around 10 degrees, applying several circular strokes to the cutting edge. Using just the weight of the sharpener should produce the best results.
We recommend you use your Paul Mitchell Knife Sharpener every day that you use your knife.
